An article in the
Evening Standard by Charles Saatchi revealed the truth of ballet. It is
an unbelievable eye opener about ballerinas having to go through.
We all love ballet
and have never guessed the terrible suffering of dancing on the tips of their
toes for hours each day. Nobody seen the result of it. We just watch the most
graceful performance.
Margot Fountain
spoke of it years ago and stated that her feet were completely ruined. She
added further, if she had known at the beginning she would had never entered ballet.
Furthermore,
footballer if they are injured, they are rested until fully recovered.
Ballerinas would
not dare to call in and miss a performance knowing very well that there are a
great many ballerinas would only be too pleased to jump in their place.
The management would
not dream of suggesting rest until they healed again. They are just as brutal
demanding they carry on regardless. It is there were brutality comes in because any other sport or performer the manager will insist n resting till it healed.
Looking at some of
the pictures they must be in absolute agonies and are still poised on the tips
of those bruised, blooded toes looking effortless and graceful.
When ballet was
invented by the Sun King Louis IVX in France he and the dancers worn high heal
shoes. It came a long way since and has developed into one of the most torturous
form of performing.
However, as long
there are ballerinas willing to jump into top performers’ places; it is
unlikely that management will change to let them rest long enough for their
feet to heal again. There should be somebody stepping in. powerful enough, to change the rules.
Hoping this blog will not turn away the audience because these ballerinas deserve all the applause they get especially now the truth is known.
