ORGANIC VS NON-ORGANIC FOOD

SUMMARY  Ever since the report was written by scientists about the Organic food it is  now more available also the consumers gone wise and demanded it. Although more expensive, which in my opinion, shouldn’t be but the taste is completely different.

I started to grow my own vegetables, all organic, and it just taste of real food. Backbreaking but its worthwhile.

2012 - A scientific report stated that there is no difference between organic and non-organic nutritious wise.  Surely, they went into it thoroughly to get this result and it must have cost a lot of money, no disrespect meant, but Organic bound to be better without chemicals

Now if you read between the lines, of course, taste-wise might not be any difference but the very point is which they avoided is the non-organic food has any amount of pesticides and all sort of other chemicals. This is the very point organic food is healthier. They could have saved a lot of money because common sense would tell you that chemicals don't do you any good, especially in the long run.

Ever since the report came out, I only found half of the products organic, in the supermarket. Isn't it amazing? I was so please, at long last, there was organic food available. I know it cost more which to my mind shouldn't be because the organic farm safes a lot of money on buying chemicals and pesticides plus labour in spraying it onto the crop. Also, organic soil will produce crops much longer and the ground water will not be contaminated.

I wonder whether the chemical industry was at the bottom of that scientific report and I wouldn't be surprised. They would lose millions if the organic food production spreads.

We have had too many reports of high contamination of rivers and groundwater. The bees and birds’ reproduction is slowing down rapidly due to chemicals. It’s about time the public found out and instead of consuming a lot of contaminated food. The latest scandal was putting plastic powder into the milk. Especially milk, I think, it is not only disgusting but criminal because babies and small children drink it a lot. This again wouldn't happened if it was switched over to organic milk and the price lowered to be more affordable.

Why are human beings in such poor health all around? Let's face it we are. Even babies having illnesses and diseases of an unbelievable amount. I am sure I am not wrong in believing that all these chemicals are mostly the course of it. Just to give you one example, apples are sprayed 18 times with chemicals. On top of it they tell us we should eat more fruit.

Organic baby products should be in forced by law. I am sure organic baby food is better.

Then you have all these allergies which were never about in the so called good old days, not to that extent. Surely it has to make sense that organic shampoo and organic skin care just to name two has to be better.

In the olden days, farms used natural matters like dung and spread it on their fields. For the vegetable garden they used to throw all the vegetable waste onto the compost and the leaves in the autumn. They never used pesticides and the vegetable tasted fresh because they were grown natural. The poultry was all day long in the orchard and they were given organic grain.

My final plea, please introduce some more organic food into the supermarket and lower the prices to make them affordable to most of the people. It would safe a lot of money on doctors and hospitals in the long run.

GOOD NEWS WASTE FOOD DISTRIBUTION

Perfectly good food of 10 million tonnes was wasted every year.

An organisation called The Felix Project is trying to put an end to it. It was set up by a very courageous  Evening Standard chairman Justin Byam Shaw and his wife in memory of their teenage son Felix who died at the age of 14.

They hired a depot in Park Royal and installed a project manager. Installed a walk-in chiller and bought two delivery vans put on a logo "Good Food for good causes".

They pick-up unsold fresh produce for free from supermarkets and food suppliers. They deliver it to a wide network of charities that prepare meals for the most destitute and socially isolated Londoners.

With only two full time employees and 23 volunteers it supplies 23 charities that supplies 500 struggling Londoners each week.

It is a small beginning but a wonderful beginning. The supply is there it just needs  more funding to expand further..

There are already other charities such as FareShare, Community Shop, FoodCycle and City Harvest.

FareShare is the largest distributed 9,070 tonnes of food last year to 2,485 charities. FareShare charges for delivery whereas Felix does not. FareShare gets its supply from food manufacturers hardly from the Supermarket at the end of the day.

Supermarket are becoming more aware of  throwing still perfectly good food into landfills. By now 10 top[ Supermarket have joined the campaign.

Today's news, the Evening Standard wrote that Global Banking Group City has become the first bank to support the campaign to tackle food waste and hunger in London. The company has made a donation of £200,000 to the flagship The Felix Project

The first £100,000 will be used to employ jobless youth to train as managers and assistant manager as Felix expands. The second £100,000 will be used to train van drivers to achieve a licence and staff over the next 18 months all from the youth unemployment list.

This could and should have been done a long time ago organised by the Tory Government that is only interested how much more can be cut from Welfare benefits and privatising the NHS for their own benefit. Last year Ian Duncan Smith paid out £44,000 bonus that only could have come off the back of benefits. ex-PM Cameron did not stop it.

There are over 2,500 death from suicides and starvation and 40,000 death from hyperthermia last winter.

A great Achievement !!!!!!!!
