WAR HERO RETURNS ISRAELI MEDAL

HENK ZANOLI

Henk Zanoli, 91, saved a Jewish child from the Nazis. He and his late mother were given a medal in honour by the Yad Vashem Holocaust museum in Jerusalem.  They sheltered Elhanan Pinto, 11, from 1943 till the end of the war when the Allies liberated Holland. Both his parents died in Nazis death camps.

Mr Zanoli had been a lawyer. He returned the medal Righteous Among The Nations to the Israeli Embassy in The Hague. The reason was that six of his relatives died in Gaza after Israeli jet bombed his family. He said: "The great-great-grand-children of my mother have lost their grandmother, three uncles, and aunt and a cousin. To hold on to the honour will be an insult to the memory of my courageous mother, who risked her life fighting against suppression and for preserving human life."

Our full respect to Mr Zanoli and his words put right what should have been observed by Israel.

Even if the three people were killed by Hamas it did not justify to kill over 2,000 Palestinian which were mostly civilians. Only very recently it was reported that it could have been Mossad, an Israeli secret service,  who killed the three people. Whatever, we will never get told the full truth

Now, it seems that Israel realised the general public are turning against them and many demonstrations all over the world showed it, Israel seems to be now more willing to agree for another five-days' truce. The general public in the UK also voted to boycott Israeli goods.

By right Israel should be the most peace loving country after the Holocaust but they are warring  ever since they got their promised land. Palestinian people lost a lot of their home land and Israel should be satisfied which what they got but they attacking Palestine to conquered more land and drive the people from their land. That is utterly and totally wrong.
