CEASE FIRE FOR SYRIA

REMEMBER there was a glimpse of hope to stop fighting in Syria. We dont hear anything any more about it

UPDATE 17 January, 2016: So far there seems no sign of it. The British Government  announced that they flew bombing raids last Sunday.

Why is it not upheld?

It supposed to start early January? Why is Mr Cameron ignoring it and bring more danger to this country? It is the man in the street who will pay the price. Mr Cameron does not seems to care.

UN Security Council voted unanimously for a cease fire in Syria. It is the best news there could have been.

US Secretary of State John Kerry said: “An UN plan for Syria is a “milestone” in the effect to end the conflict there.”

Although agreeing with the statement but it is a contradiction to Mr Kerry previous statements and especial to his previous action.

John Kerry added: “Mr Assad had lost the ability to unite the country and demands Mr Assad immediate departure which would prolong the war.”

The West and Arab nations concluded the resolution that Mr Assad could be part of the transition but insist he must be gone at the end of it

Let us hold here and get a few facts in. The US started to supply arms and support Al-Qaeda, four year ago. Slowly one by one other western country joined in.  From Al-Qaeda sprang ISIS which grew and now so powerful that the West and Russia see no alternative but to destroy them. All the time the West were supplying them with weapons through the back door and fighting in the front.

Double dealing never worked out in the long run and it has not in this case.

It was planned that 34 countries, including the UK, establish an army and is under the command of Saudi Arabia to defeat ISIS.  Whether Russia and China is part of it is not clear. It is also not clear whether that plan provoked the UN to call for a Security Council meeting because if the West and Arab countries join the army they would be up against Russia and Chine.  Russia and China support Mr Assad.

This situation could develop into another World War very quickly because there are too many countries involved again Russia and China.

Coming back to the UN Security Council resolution it was also decided Syria would have, that they called, a “democratic” election.  US have hardly a democratic action when they keep attacking other country with no other reason but dominate them but they keep waving the flag about democracy.

As Syrian UN ambassador Bashar Jaafan already pointed out: “There is a glaring contradiction between outside countries talking about letting Syria decide their future yet also insisting on replacing Mr Assad.”

UN Security Council Resolution No 2254

n   Calls for ceasefire and formal talks or a political transition to start in early January.

n    Groups seen as “terrorists” included IS and al-Nusra Front, are excluded.

n    “Offensive and defensive actions” against such groups – a reference to air strikes by US –led coalition and Russia – to continue.

n   UN chief Ban Ki-Moon to report by 18 January, 2016, on how to monitored ceasefire.
n   “Credible, inclusive and non-sectarian government” to be established within six months.
n   Political transition should be Syria-led.

Russia Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said: “It would be possible to reach an agreement on a unity government for Syria within six month.

The resolution will not effect the bombing by Russia, France and US against IS,

So far 250,000 people had been killed in the civil war and millions displaced.

However, there is a disagreement already which armed group should be labelled as terrorists and therefore to be bombed.

As wonderful the news of a cease file sounds on the surface but if you read in between the lines there is still the insistence to remove Mr Assad which was the reason of starting the civil war supported by the West.

Therefore the resolution does not look as solid as it is made out to be but it is a great step forward and hopefully it holds and continues to bring everlasting peace.

Apart from destroying the IS; the US and West should keep out of Syria’s affairs.
US, UK and the West should learn from the recent wars which did not solve anything but caused more troubles.

In Afghanistan the so hard fought Helmsman district was freed from Talibans is now run over again and in Talibans’ hands. How must those solders feel like about the sacrifices of their killed and maimed comrades, some for life?

In Iraq there was no IS until the war was fought there and now it is a training ground for them. From there they lS spread into Syria.

Therefore America should stop to be so self righteous and play the policeman of the world.  So far they ruined Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Lebanon, Libya and Syria under the great cover “democracy” but in reality keeping their weapon industry going.

UN SECURITY COUNCIL MEETING ON SYRIA BUT NO Mr.CAMERON

UN ASSEMBLY
Prime Minister David Cameron flew on Sunday to New York but not to attend the UN general assembly. He will only briefly be there and sent his Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond instead. Instead David Cameron attends the successors of the Millennium Development Goals in New York. Apparently it seems more important to him than trying to solve the crisis of Syria and refugees.

It was one of the most important meetings especially with  crises of Syria and refugees but Prime Minister David Cameron could not make the effort. Now, when the Russians moved in to back-up Assad's regime Mr Cameron is shooting his mouth off and criticises the Russian. Why was he not there when Putin was at the UN?

It is also the 70 anniversary of the UN but the main point of on the agenda is Syria. All the world top leaders including President Obama, Putin, Xi Jinpin and Rouhani will be there to find a way to establish peace, yet it seems that is not important to PM David Cameron to take this great opportunity to find a way to stop the civil war in Syria and the refugee crisis.

David Cameron announced in a interview with the BBC that he is now willing to agree for President Bashar el-Assad to stay for a short period but is still determined to topple the Assad's regime soon. This statement is past the limit of arrogance and power madness.  He keeps calling Mr Assad a dictator who murdered his people and therefore he has to go.

Have we not heard this before in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Libya?

It is very hard or even impossible for us to know the truth amongst all the propaganda.

Labour foreign secretary Hilary Benn and Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn called for the UN to establish safe havens protected by military force in Syria. It would certainly help the Syrian people who were displaced.

Mr Benn said: “I am telling the prime minister today that that’s just not good enough. Given the scale of the crisis in Syria the prime minister should be staying on and straining every sinew to secure a comprehensive UN Security Council resolution under the chapter VII of the UN charter.” (It allows for military force to “maintain or restore international peace and security.”)

Mr Benn will state at the Labour Party Conference that Britain should pursue an all including political plan for Syria, including Iran and Russia. Mr Benn will say: “There’s been a lot of talk about airstrikes but to bring peace, stability and security to Syria will need a much broader, more comprehensive plan than just trying to deal with (ISIS). This will require political, diplomatic and humanitarian will too

RUSSIA VETOES RESOLUTION AT UN

PRESIDENT PUTIN
In my opinion Russia has a good reason because the USA wants to open up  the northern part of Syria (Assad's government) to fly into it (bombing).

Russia vetoed four times to block resolution of Syria to stop the bloodshed. Moscow’s view the resolution is against the regime of Bashir al-Assad.  It also forestalled common act on the Ukraine where it is accused to fight a military camp to supporting the eastern separatists.

This is one site of the coin; the other side is since the USA and West did not agree with the result of the people’s vote to join Russia; the government of the Ukraine was brought down by a ‘sudden revolt’ and a new government put into place of course by ‘democratic’ voting.  This was the moment when the fight started.

Matthew Rycroft, British ambassador, said: “Syria is a stain on the conscience of the Security Council. I think it is the biggest failure in recent years, and it has undoubtedly consequences for the standing of the Security Council and indeed the United Nation as a whole.”

The US has used its veto three times in the past decades, to shield Israel from rebuke for its actions in the Palestinian territories.

In my opinion those vetoes should have been overruled. Israel seems to have an overall power to do what it likes.  The atrocity it is handing out continuously to Palestine and its people is incredible. Ever since Israel was established there they continuously confiscating land and by now there is very little left of Palestine and that is occupied.

Three Israelis were killed and Israel bombed Gaza for 50 days, killing 2,500 people and destroyed 19,000 houses. Children still living in bombed houses. Israelis solders went into the West Bank and found the grave of the three Israelis and went to a house where the alleged two murderers were hiding out. They shot them and then confiscated 900 sq km of the West Bank destroyed the villages and put a fence around it.

The USA, UN and West never said a word against it. We soon would have heard an uproar if it was in the USA.

Today, according to the report, a Muslim woman was wielding a knife at a border soldiers in Hebron. The pictures show that she stood there and a few feet away a soldier aimed his machine gun and shot her. A soldier and a civilian tried to intervene but were warned off by him.  She should have been arrested and tried  but not shot at point blank.

Other reports show pictures that Israeli solders in occupied West Bank raiding houses at midnight and arrest children as young as six for interrogation. What happened to them afterwards is not known.

The West Bank was given to the Palestinian people at a peace agreement, signed by Israel.  The Gaza strip is blocked for decades and In other words Israel starves them.

In Syria a chemical bomb was dropped in the suburb of Damascus and Assad was accused. John Kerry, US Secretary of State, was pushing for military intervention and UK PM David Cameron agreed despite MPs voted against it and the world held its breath. In the last minute Russia intervened and Assad agreed to had over his stockpile of chemical weapons which were destroyed. The UN sent a special team of inspectors but the result of the report was never published. If the UN is neutral, which it should be, the report should have been published no matter who dropped the chemical weapon.

The UN Security Council legitimacy has been scrutinised many time and it looks like the USA has the power over it. USA always complains when they do not get their way.  As with Syria the US wants the airspace of Syria all open up. At the moment the airspace of the northern territory are closed. The reason, the US wants to bomb Assad’s government with the excuse to bomb ISIS. The US and West are determined to bring Mr Assad down like they done in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya resulting into total chaos and killing. Therefore, Russia vetoes the resolution.

The Russian UN representative, Vitaly Churkin said: “Some countries will try to involve the Security Council in regime change operation in Syria. And we were telling them that it is not their business of the Security Council to go into regime change mode. This is a fundamental difference and it’s not the fault of the Security Council that this difference is there.”

France is proposing that the five permanent council members (US, Russia, France, UK and China) voluntarily suspend their veto rights in situation when genocides are being committed.

While all these rankles going on, people dying daily and are forced to flee their home and country. In Syia 220,000 people have died and 11 million have been displaced.

Whatever these big powers trying to achieve for themselves they do not consider whatsoever the human costs. What have they achieved in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya and Syria? Nothing but total unrest and got rid of their weapon stock to produce new ones to sustain their economy.
